Camp Purohit Sweets had its humble beginnings in the by-lanes of Cantonment area, Belgaum, known as the homestead of the Maratha Light Infantry and as the “Germany of the South” owing to the industries. In the year 1952, Mr. Shankarlal Purohit, opened the first store at High Street, Camp, now the Head Office, with about 18-20 varieties of sweets. His three sons, Babulal Purohit, Keshavlal Purohit and Gopilal Purohit took forward his legacy and have made the Purohit name synonymous with sweets in the Belgaum and North Karnataka Region.

Camp Purohit Sweets has 8 stores in Belgaum. The head office is at High Street Camp and two other stores are at Deshmukh Road, Tilakwadi and opposite Belgaum Railway Station. There are five other franchisees all across Belgaum city. With over 700 varieties of sweets and 300 varieties of Namkeens, these stores cater to all the culinary and confectionery needs of the residents of Belgaum. They are also bulk suppliers of sweets and confectioneries to all major hotels, caterers and industries of Belgaum.
